Tar or something on alloys? How do i get it off?

  57 Clio Campus Sport
I usually clean my car every week and my wheels. But recently i have been really busy and havent cleaned it for a month. I go to clean it yesterday the car cleaned fine but when it came to the wheels the front 2 were awful. I got 90% of the dirt off. But there are a loads of dots of black stuff which im pretty sure is Tar or something from road resurfacing. Have been to Bham a few times and they have been resurfacing the roads on the way back. I tried getting them off with my usualy wheel cleaner but it didnt work, i even tried scrapping off with nail which didnt work. Using a wooden skewer kind of worked but still very hard and will take me forever. Is there anything which will get this stuff off easier?

i used wd40 worked well

using a lubrication on your wheels, where it will contaminate the brakes, the brake pads, and make the brakes less powerful sounds like a good plan.

Use something like autoglym tar remover.

You mean brake dust surely?

I agree... generally what you describe sounds like baked-on brake dust... In my experience tar will scrape off certainly with a nail etc? Unless of course that bakes on as well, but brake dust certainly does.

Usually cleaned off by a mild corrosive being left on affected part of the wheel for a couple of minutes? (Only if some conventional wheel cleaner hasn't taken it off first)
