Temp Issue?

Just got back in now and im slightly baffled by whats just happened, i left the car to warm up for about 5 minutes before i set off and it was around quarter of the way up on the temp gauge, about five minutes of pottering later it had worked its way to the centre of the gauge but i then noticed, everytime i let off the revs the gauge dropped?? Then when i applied the revs it went back up again... Any ideas whats going on here would be great, thanks

Give the temp sensor and plug a clean with a bit of WD

Worked on mine a treat, Its under the airfilter box on the left
