temperature not displaying

Bump this thread up as I recently bought a Clio 1.4 'Sport' MK2 Phase 1, it didn't have the standard radio/CD player fitted, and I was just wondering why its not showing up.
I presume my car has the external temperature sensor?

Was it working before?
The temp nipple is under the passenger mirror. Give it a tickle, see if it perks up.

Not been working since I got the car, surely its not got anything to do with me not having a standard radio/cd player?

All I have on my little dash is just the time. No radio, no temperature.

Are you sure it even has one then? If you look on the underside of the passenger mirror there should be a little bobble. If it doesnt have that then you dont have a temp sensor.
Shouldn't be anything to do with the CD player. Ive got an aftermarket HU and my temp shows up fine.

Just looked on Parkers and it says that I should have the External temperature gauge as standard :(

Sorry for posting again but I've just nipped out to the car (its dark) and felt under the passenger side mirror, and I felt a little rectangle shaped hole where I'm guessing the sensor should be? So this would explain me not having the external temperature gauge.

So has anyone any ideas on what I should do now? Easy fix or £££?

Do you really need one? Its only the outside temperature, can you not just put your hand out the window to see if it hot or cold?

If you really want to, you could probably get a mirror from a scrappy. Or maybe just get the sensor out? Means you'll need to wire it up though. Joshdee(think thats his name) from cliospares might have something. Have a look on the website or give him a PM.

Sounds more than likely the sensor is gone - cheap & easy fix IIRC just plugs into the inside of the n/s mirror :)
Fixed mine anyway

When I got the 172 in December it read 19c lol we rarely get that with Irish summer weather!

So all I need to do is 'borrow' a sensor from a mirror in the scrap yard? And just plug it into mine? Does it matter what model I get it off? Sorry for all the questions  And by inside the n/s mirror, do you mean under it? As thats where the hole is in mine where I think it should be?

You have a Ph1 mate so not 100% sure

The wiring for the sensor goes inside the casing of the mirror, I wouldn't like to think it would be dangling under it lol

Oh yeah of course lol, I was just finalising that the sensor is under the mirror. I wonder why its been taken out? Hmm my car has a strange past, I opened up the boot yesterday to check the spare tyre and it had about 2 inches of water sloshing around in there. Strange or what lol.

Order a sensor off a guy onhere and he delivered the whole mirror! Looked at the sensor and its all connected into all the other wires. Is that correct??

Any help changing this would be great.
