Temperture problem maybe????

Once my car is warm / hot been running say 30 40 minutes, the gauge goes up to 2 dots under the half way make. If i'm sat in traffic goes up to the half way mark. then once i start moving goes back down to the 2 dots under half way if you follow me. is this normal or is the thermostat cooked?

Not really, I do a lot of town driving stop start etc getting around 36 to 40 ish

The needle doesn't move a lot tbh it was just something I noticed. If the norm is once hot the needle shouldn't move then I'll change the stat.

Once hot mine constantly sits just slightly above halfway and so does a mate's of mine. It doesn't drop until the engines switched off, so I don't think it's normal for it to dropping and rising.

Mines doesnt always sit at the halfway mark, its quite often under slightly more cool air it gets through the fins on the rad, guage drops :slap:

mcmacslim check your rads not full of flies and s**te if its going above halfway

I wanna flush the system anyway so it won't hurt to change it only 6quid from eurocarparts.

What coolant should I be using?

Yeah may have to check my rad then at the weekend. Car was only serviced a month ago and the rad was "apparently" checked then and the coolant changed. I've been in a few 1*2s though and the temp gauge has always been the same when hot, just above halfway:S. Guess its better to be safe than sorry though.
