Testing security on a WLAN

Hi All,

I'm just running some tests on my WLAN at home. I can connect to the main PC with the router connected to it, but not another laptop.

Any ideas anyone?

What security have you applied? Not done MAC adress filtering and only set the PC to have access?

You'll have to give more information than that!

* Is the laptop connected?
* Is the router giving DHCP allocated IP's.
* Is the laptop on the same subnet as the main pc.

yes it is connected

yes it is giving dhcp allocated ip's and yes it's on the same subnet

windows w**k firewall? Try disabling that on both machines.

Try pinging from both directions as well.

I have never done this and am really confused (says me who's applying for an it technician job)

I used remote desktop connect to connect to the main pc.
