just considering a new thatcham approved alarm for 182ff, any help/reccomendations, i dont wanna go 4-500 intellistart clifford G5, read posts about a good toad, etc but i think ranges have changed any help ppl

All Thatcham approved alarms are of the same standard, Clifford and Toad have multi channel remote controls so more (accessories) can be added, but all have been tested to a high standard.

You should have a thatcham cat 1 alarm as standard i wasted lots of money on a after market alarm and i would not recommend it you dont get anymore money off your insurance i had a clifford concept 500 with lights add on shock sensor, glass sensor, windows closing, prox sensor ,and lots more and got really fed up with it it cost me about £600 as well glad it went with my old car i would spend your money on somthing else IMHO

Yes all UK specification Cliosports (172, 182, and 197) come standard with a Thatcham Level 1 security device.

The alarm system is very good, our Theft claim statistics for all Cliosport models are excellent so this shows the alarm is good.

I personally wouldn't replace this alarm system with an aftermarket cat 1 as you wouldn't really be gaining anything (the aftermarket alarm may have a few extra features etc.... but as both are Thatcham Cat 1 you wouldn't receive any further discount on insurance or really gain any extra security)

You could look to spend the money that you were going to use for the new Alarm on a Tracker system instead, this may allow a further discount on insurance as well.

Or you could consider using the money to fit a barrier deadlock system, a snap off steering wheel or maybe secure window film as these would increase the security further on top of the factory cat 1.

Best Regards
