The Beast - Ramshackle Rally car

On August the 20th myself, Jas and Slugger off here and a 4th team member who you lot don't know will be setting off from Calais for a 4 day rally to Valencia.

The car you use has to cost less than £150 and be decorated in someway to make it stand out. If it's over a certain age you are eligible or more prizes, our car is just old enough.

Anyway, enough waffling as I know you all want to see the weapon of choice.

Not being the worlds most mechanical team we have had someone give it the once over. It needed a new battery, and we've had new tyres and replaced a fucked wheel, but other than that it's pretty sound.

I drove it a little at the weekend and the 1.8 115ps engine runs well. No blue smoke, a nice steady idle etc. The brakes obviously work, as Dan locked it up at one point. The gearbox feels a bit ropey, but I seem to remember them being like that when new anyway.

It's only done 69k miles.

i did the croatia run last year even made it back over 4,000 miles in all

heres my g reg bluebird, and i still have it locked away

We'll be scrapping the Mondeo at the end of the rally, unless we get so attached to it that Dan decides to drive it back, the rest of us are flying back.

You know me better than that. You think I'd turn up to a track day in a car looking like that. lol

I expect we'll have to pay to scrap it, which is a shame as they'll make a good few quid off the bits. There's no way we'll want to drive it back to the UK though.

We should have brought it to you for a once over.

We've got a couple of spare wheels and tyres but that's about it. If it goes wrong we're hoping finding bits for a Mondeo will be easy enough. Not sure if we'll take the spare wheels though, where are we going to put all the beer if they are in the boot?

Just make sure you take a spare coil pack!! So common on the fords. Pice of piss to change but will drive like a sack of turds if its pukkered.
