The Dog kennel's dead (vid)

Haven't tried bump starting it, once the car's warmed up it'll start every time.

The battery's only a year and a bit old, plus all the electrics work fine,
i'm almost convinced it's the starter, I just thought i'd post a vid for confirmation.

That would be cool mate, i'll pay for postage and all that,
I just have to figure out how to replace it myself, as i've no money until I get back behind the camera.

Bloody cars!

  330i. E30 Touring.
Fiddly job, but not rocket science.

Battery off.
Airbox out.
Upper inlet off for access.
Remove SM heatshield and wiggle out.

Starter motor is held on by three bolts over the back of the gearbox. Towards where the coolant pipes join the heater matrix.

Remove those. Then you should be able to wiggle it out from underneath. You'll need to undo the 13mm brass nut holding the + to the SM and the - is a spade connector.

Hardest part IMO is getting the SM heatshield back on, because the exhaust manifold is f**king tight to it. Proper fiddly.

Cheers for that, i'll have a look when i'm in a better mood and it's not pissing it down,
i'll probably find out it's a lose connection or dirty spade connector.

This car's getting retired as soon as I can afford a new dog carrier,
it can live out it's days on track, as it's a pain in the arse as a daily.

Indeed, this place has saved me a fortune over the years,
plus i've met some seriously cool people.

Although i've now had my fill of Clios, time to scratch my Impreza itch I think.

How reliable are the classic wagons?
I don't want to swap one unreliable car or another.

This is my favourite shaped wagon, but good ones are the same price as old STi Wagons.

I just want one that's comfortable, reliable, and is capable of doing a journey of a few hundred miles with ease.

This one looks alright though.

No one will accept magic beans,
so until i've saved up all the money i'll have to stick with my broken Clio.

If the f*cking thing hadn't broken down so much last year i'd have one by now. :dapprove:

There's reliable and unreliable ones out there.

My old one was a royal pig but the current steed is alright so far!

Equally immensely helpful as well.

You're welcome....

That is exactly what i'm after,
my favourite shape with some decent mods, I want it now!!!

Sadly it'll be March by the time i've got the money,
i've a few photo jobs lined that should get me back on track with saving.

Try cleaning the little spade connector which goes onto starter motor. I had problem with my 1.2 before and that turned out to be corroded spade connector to starter motor. It was temperamental. Some days it would start. Other days it wouldn't turn over at all.

I can't even find the starter motor tbh, someone told me to remove the battery and airbox to gain access,
but it's not under there, as far as I know it's under the exhaust manifold.

^ it is, remove air box, and inlet manifold and it is do'able from the top, but it will be fun!

I've no idea where to look on an RS Clio but on the 1.2 it was just 'there' in engine bay. Lol

I don't think it's the battery mate, your stater or starter wiring is dodge as its done it at Andys before aswell. We checked the amps and charge and it was fine.

Iirrc. It's corroded connections tbh , take them off ( or starter off and clean terminals ) re connect and put Vaseline on the conectors to stop damp
