the dreadde swirl marks

  1.2 MK2 PH2
just a few questions about them.

how hard is it to remove them ive got things like cleaning mits a good shammy zymol polish etc but cant seem to get rid of them, how hard do i have to actually scrub to get em to go?

Edit: nice spelling of dreded ive got there...

You won't remove swirl marks without some intense polishing. Working by hand it will be very hard work with something like Meguiars Scratch X for hours and hours and probably not be 100% succesfull and only have an achy arm to show for it!

A machine polish is the only real option TBH.

I'm sure it's spelt dreaded ;) lol

It's quite hard to get the swirls out by hand. Try using meguiars scratch x, and apply about 3 times.

Prob best to get a PC. Think I'm going to purchase one soon

You could get someone to do it for you, depends if you think you will get good use out if it.

It took almost a year for me to get mine lol - but very happy with it.

I know, thats what happened to me. I spent about 3 hours cleaning, polishing and buffing all the crap off my car. Then put meguiars scratch x on and not much happened tbh. I only applied it once though, and got annoyed at the lack of results after 3 hours so I gave up lol.

Like Rich says, for the decent results, the only way forward it machine polish.

Rich: where's the best place to get a PC? and what pads, polish, sealents etc should I use?

I imported my PC direct from Autopia.

You will need Cutting. Polishing and Finishing Pads in both the 6 and 4 inch sizes. ideally two of each. Polishes wise I started with the Poorboys SSR range (2.5, 2 and 1) but now use the Menzerna polish range, Intensive Polish, Fianl Polish and the Final Finishes.

Doubt it mate, but you can buy an adapter from tesco or something like that for like 2 quid or something

THESE WILL NOT WORK AND YOU COULD DIIIIIIIIIIIIE. Maybe... they don't work anyway!

You need a proper 110V transformer, about £40 - 50 depending where you get it from, an extension cord (about £15 - £20) and a replacement plug (about £5) for the PC to attach it together.

Cheers for that mate. Got an extension cord and a spare plug knocking about somwhere, just gotta find the transformer and get the money together for the PC. GF has offered to give me some aswell aslong as I do her car for her which isnt a bad deal in my eyes.

Definitely worth doing and its yours for good then. They seem pretty well made too - makes me feel like Tim Allen when using! ;)

Yea indeed just looking its $263.75 with postage. Did someone say on here not long ago we could get a discount.

Also I use SRP and EGP at the moment along with a few other bits.

Would I need to get the Poorboys SSR range (2.5, 2 and 1) like Rich says or use P21's?? What would be the step by step guide??

1.Wash
2.Clay
3.SRP
4.EGP
5.P21's?

Where would the Poorboys come into it?? Im new to this. Or could someone reccomend a better routine.

1.Wash
2.Clay
3.SRP
4.EGP
5.P21's? - A good place to start, although I would personally go for Chemical Guys 50/50.

Where would the Poorboys come into it?? Im new to this. Or could someone reccomend a better routine - Poorboys machine polish would be used to correct the paint, between 2 and 3 in your list.

Thats brilliant advice, im sure 182 Blue gave me a link the other day. DO you think they would do a group buy if a few were interested? Is Menzerna a lot more expensive than poorboys?

I doubt they would give a discount as we already get one through 182 Blue.

Menzerna is maybe a little bit more but not a lot I think.

182 Blue gave me a discount code. Was just thinking that if two people wanted to buy then it may save on postage.

Yeah I guess you could save on the postage buying two, although its a good deal as it is for what you get.

Think mine came to £113 inc. delivery, a full set of 6" pads and backing plate, a guide (although not really used it) and some Sonus Paint Cleaner which I really like using.
