The Green Warning Light On The 182

  Titanium Clio 182

The green gear warning light, is it for optimum gear change or is it just warning you to change gear? My brother says its optimum gear chage but it cant be as you are nearly red-lining the car?

it is called the optimum gear change indicator but it isnt one, it is past the point of optimum and only comes on as you are about to hit the limiter so should really be called a change up before you hit the limiter indicator!

It will come on at different times depending on whether the engine is warm or not but always just before the limiter.

It just comes on to warn you of getting close to the red line.

It comes on about 300rpm before the red line but the reline changes due to oil temperature.

Its a "here comes the limiter" light, nothing more, nothing less...

i use it a lot when my car is nearly warm, so watch out for it in case I have to change up early.

I dont like taking my eyes off the road to look for a tiny indicator on the dash when im tanking it like that.

I can see it in my peripheral vision. Dont have to look for it. I usually change up a fraction before it comes on anyway.....
