Just playing with my Sigma 35mm ART. f1.4 is insane on a FF body, needed f2 for this just to get more than a tiny bit of lettering in focus...

By far the best lens I have ever owned.. intact still do own. I shoot everything with it. They is talk of an 85mm version which I will also be buying. Keep any eye on the rear metal ring on the lens, they come loose, its a common fault. I have had mine repaired twice.

Last night I went to this spot, as did a few other people with bloody torches! Seemed a busy night for photographers last night! Then the lens misted up at around shot 150.
This is a 170 x 25 second shot.
I'm going back there in the summer for the night. Will get a super long star trail and the Milky way.

Wish I could figure out how to get these milky way pictures and have them so clear :(

Go somewhere very, very dark.
It's not the best time of year either at the moment, the better months are July and August I think but it means waiting until 1-2 am for it to get properly dark.
I've got some OK shots using a slower lens (shot at f/4),cant wait to try it with my f/2.8 this summer, and possibly on a full frame body.

How did you line that up to get the rotation at the top of the tower? Good effort!

Read up on how to find Polaris.

In the Northern Hemisphere, all stars will appear to rotate around it, so I just lined up the top of the spire with Polaris :)
