Nothing spectacular, just an iPhone pic but I liked the picture.

Love the truck, because it's a cool arse truck but really like the (I'm presuming your wife and child?)
kissing one.

I like the DoF background building but also you can see it's a normal everyday rather than set up, with the people around, but the main focus is natural but captured.

Yeah that's the wife and boy.
I thought it had gone full image and not thumbnail.

That was as Blenheim too. Absolutely stunning place but it was bloody hot today.

Haven't posted in ages as I haven't taken anything lately that I'd consider good, and this is no exception really but at least my timing was on point lol.

I need some tips for star shots. (@Aaron.. ?). I tried a couple last night but got blurred stars on exposures longer than 1 minute as the planet is turning. I resorted to massively high ISO and f4 with a 15 second exposure. There must be a better way?

That's a pretty impressive first effort. Slightly jealous of your holiday location @Andy.

What are you using? Focal length?
I generally don't go longer than 30 seconds at 14mm. 10 seconds at most if I'm using my 50mm.
You can get away with high iso on the newer cameras, I often shoot up to 6400 on my 6d. I generally shoot at the largest aperture I can too. 2.8 for my 14mm /1.4 for my 50mm although the latter is an absolute PITA for getting stars in focus. Probably should up it to f2.

There is a rule of 500/focal length for maximum exposure before movement which seems to work for people.

Hopefully you'll get some more clear skies out there. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the shots.

Oh yeah, looks like you've also caught some meteor's too. Probably part of the presides shower.
And a plane.

Thanks for that! I'm using 24mm f4 on a 5DMkII (24-105 lens). I resorted to the H2 ISO, which isn't pretty RAW.

I did some reading last night and came across the 500 rule. Hopefully I can try again tonight if we have clear skies.

I've just seen what H2 is... yeah that won't be pretty at ISO 25,600!

I've got that lens but I've never tried it at night. My mate uses the 17-40 at f4 and gets good results.

Make sure the noise reduction is turned off in camera and also the image stability on the lens.

Try those settings I mentioned above. Hopefully you'll get something decent.
