The Knockhill Thread.

Was running green vega 16v track wheels on the night but have turbines for road wheels.

Standard discs, fast road pads and braided lines.

Will be upgrading the setup soon though [emoji1305]
Ahh, I saw it in the pits on turbines, and thereafter from the back whilst trying not to run into the back of you at the hairpin! What pads are you using?

Haha what were you driving? Yeah can brake pretty late in this for some reason, must be cause of the braided lines and pads.

Tbh I've never checked the make since I bought it from a mate. But there is a ferodo sticker in the engine bay [emoji23].

White clio 172 which for some reason the brakes have gone funny on since last year! Im on braided lines, standard disks and DS2500 rears and RC5 fronts and I was properly worried a couple of times until I started braking much earlier when I was behind you!

@scotiamr2t Was it you I was speaking to with the Ph1 on ASTs? I didnt catch this before I left!
There were a couple of RB 182s there and another guy in a silver 172 who was on track for the first time as well as a cup I think but it's easy to lose count!

Hi
I was up at the Trs reverse day Ob sat night
Didn't take the 200t on but used my s5 Audi
Bit of a mistake as the brake fluid boiled after two laps and I had no brakes for the rest of the night
Didn't really push car on due to this
There Was certainly Some nice fast renaults on track
Lots of spins from people that hadn't done a reverse before

Hi @Shocker , i was in the little silver PH1. I spoke to you briefly in the pit lane just before i went out for the last 15minutes

@alistairolsen it was indeed me mate, the little ph1 goes well for what it is. Handling wise its spot on, just lacks the grunt up the straights really, you looked to be having fun! You done many reverse days before?

S5 looked nice @Shocker ! Shame the brakes didnt last, do you have plans to upgrade, or was it a one off in your road car?

No going to alternate cars , I just ordered new grooved discs all round and rbf 660 brake fluid today
I fitted yellow ebc before track day but never checked the fluid , I had a look at fluid when I got home and it's black and completely knackered , wish I checked it before but seeing Audi changed it last year on the 38000 mile service it thought it would be OK
It was also my first reverse and going into the hairpin at 120 plus with brake pedal going down to the floor was certainly butt clenching
I think I must have only done 25 to 30 laps all night and only used a quarter tank fuel
Usually I'm up about 80/100 laps plus a full tank plus a 4 gallon can on the Clio 200t

@scotiamr2t no, last night was the first time I've traid the track in reverse, the dates have conspired against me the past so all the rest have been in the normal direction.
Aye, the white car goes ok, its a 126k mile standard engine and box and it's on cooksports and cup dampers so a fairly limited spec but it keeps a smile on my face.
Need to sort some tyres with tread left on them and some new pads for next time.

@Shocker sounds good! If it's that black I suspect they 'changed' it rather than changed it if you know what I mean ;-)

I did about 25l last night over the two hours. my Odomoeter doesnt work, but I'd guess I did something like 5 stints of 15 laps or thereabouts.

@alistairolsen as long as it keeps you happy an allows you to have fun is all that matters! I'm now needing new pads/discs aswell an the R888's are now shot aswel. luckily my next day isn't until the end of june!

At the chicane and duffus you were leaving loads of time out there by not using more of the track, from what i seen when i was briefly behind you. Being your first reverse day it would have been a lot to learn. I quite like reverse, i feel its a lot smoother an flows a bit better..........except from the lead up to clarks

@scotiamr2t It'll get upgraded in time, but there is currently a lot more time to be gained from me than the car, so best spend the money on bookings and fuel!

Chicane I was clipping the cone and using all the green kerb towards the end, but it took a while to build up to as the second apex is blind as you turn in. Duffus I was just a mess, trying to find any traction on the exit was a challenge! The whole section from Macintyres up the hill was very different, need to find someone to follow for a line through there! It's certainly a very different track!

Are you doing the TS day in June?

@alistairolsen I am indeed doing the TS day in june, 29th i think it is. I may try an squeeze in a day before then if work allows

It takes a lot of adjusting to the reverse direction, i find at the chicane with the new kerbing its pretty much a straight shot. Clarks can be a challenge with it being bumpy, turning in and braking all at the same time. Duffus at the top it always goes mega light, so i just keep the throttle steady and run wide towards the pit entrance as you come out.

@scotiamr2t Yeah I'll be there, 29th I think it is.
Yeah, it is once you get it right, the first few laps are interesting however!
Jock with the S4 gave me a heads up on Clarks. It's hard to judge the right entrance speed so you can get on the power without running too wide on the exit, especially as there is a bump on the inside. Yeah I found a lift helped as otherwise I lit one wheel up which took a lot longer to settle down, especially with faster cars wanting by and trying to get left!

Anyone up this Sunday?
Hope you guys have a better day than today! Rain wasn't bad, in fact it dried up and near the end we had a dry line, but the fog just wouldn't lift. So out of the 4 hours on track we expected, we got 1 and a half!! Not great fun!!

Was it the 4 hour open pit you were at Craig? Was it the fog that caused the limited track time?

Yeah purely the fog Connor. Temp was actually ok. Rain was minimal and track was drying well...... Considering the month we had before it, it was a real let down, but it is KNOCKHILL after all :)
