The new car

So after many cars since my last rs, a 182, here I am back in the fold again.
This time with a 2003 172.
Has a few issues that I need to sort, abs serv and tcs lights on, an earth problem with the rear lights, a stupid alarm and generally some tidying up, but apart from that I love it.
She already has some genuine trophy turinis and a nice exhaust (which I want to get fully recessed, any suggestions greatly appreciated) so that's a nice start.
Just had the cambelt kit and aux belt kit replaced so that's sorted for a fair few miles too.
I am planning on keeping it oem and making it look nice.

Not sure on springs if I'm honest, looks ok to me height wise (but this might change!!) and a cup spoiler is on the wish list yes, makes such a difference to the rear.

In my quest to get the car to oem standard, I have fitted a phase 1 airbox, with panel filter, purchased from @ashley_t , and with much thanks to @Martin J a standard cabasse stereo. Never been a fan of aftermarket stereos so that was a much needed change.
Still et to diagnose the abs serv and esp lights but I think it's the front sensor. I'll sort that soon. But the car needs a good clean and polish/seal very soon.

Well today I spent an age fitting a new washer pump from eBay (£5.80)
What a ball ache of a job but thank you to the guides on here as I was able to realise the wiper mechanism wasn't bolting in because I hadn't put the locating tab in the hole!!
Still a few jobs to do but they will be done in time. Still debating getting rid of the turini's for a set of std 172 or 182 alloy wheels.
Also gave it a little wash too (not a detail, just a rough wash)

I'm thinking of taking the Renault sport badges off the back, eventually to change the Clio badge for the new rs style badge. Would it look stupid with just Clio on? I really hate the cheap looking Renault sport badge but I'm not in a place to spend £30+ on a new rs badge when I've got proper fixes to do.

Late update, thanks to @Chris_Beer i bought a richbrook gear knob. I fitted a ph1 gearstick on my 182, and though I fancied doing the same, for the time being this was cheaper and supposedly easier.
Managed to fit it after nearly losing my thumb and looks much better imo.

Yeah the other morning I was smacking the gearstick into gear so I didn't actually touch it!! So a hat had to go on. Needs a tweak or another hat but it'll do. Lol

Yeah I keep looking and thinking they need to go. Eventually I'll change the Clio for the rs250 badge but got other bits to sort first.
I also like the discreet look better than the halfrauds look. Lol

Desperately need to do my headlights too I know. Should have some 182 wheels soon which I will prefer to the Turini's, have to say despite being on Cs and being a sheep I never liked them.

I'm looking to change the exhaust slightly, wondering whether I should cut the pipe to make a stealth exhaust, or try somehow and make it recessed into the bumper the backbox is really well held up so its not dropped but actually made to sit like it is, so making it recessed could be difficult. What do we think?

Hi mate. I've already sorted a swap out for the wheels, but if it falls through I'll let you know.
It's a power flow and I hate the look, so got to do something with it.

Thanks to @chris powell i bought a powerflex dogbone and eventually (after making a thread of my woes) got it fitted today.
What a difference it makes, anyone thinking of doing so I recommend it!! Such a nicer feeling to the gearchange for such little outlay.
Few more jobs to do but I'll update when I get round to them.

Lots of potential, as already said: new number plates and new RS style badge would make a huge difference. Then perhaps washer blanks? The alloys looks great but just a little lost in the arches, some spacers would really suit it, with some Cooksports

Update time.
Had noticed the car sat funny at times, the front would be different heights either side. Initially thought it was down to the surface, so decided to get some replacements and have a look.
Well here were the springs I removed, dangerous much??

And then the fun began, took the rear shock bolts out, but one thought it liked being in the thread so much it snapped!! 😧
It's now been drilled out and a new one fitted but I won't have the car back till tomorrow. 😧
