The soon to be F4R'd Mk1..

  BMW M5 & E36
Well, the cars final outing with the current 1.8 engine will be a Renaultsport trackday at Cadwell Park on Tuesday. It will be getting death throughout the day, if it dies I'm not too fussed . It'll then be off the road for a short while as it gets some 172 treatment.

Anyway, thought I'd give it a clean as its been a good couple of months without. Been using it as my daily driver since the 182 sold as well.

Enjoy

I think the F4R will work really well in the mark 1's. The weight of it should really help the flat spot of 3-4k on the RS engines.

What gear box are you going to use btw, the current valver one?

And lol, is that "tow" tippex'd on? ;)

Yes, yes it is. I have another bumper in the garage to go on as the one on the car is crap, so I'll get a sticker made up for that one.

I'll be using the current Valver JB3 box for starters, unless a Ph1 172 box comes up cheap enough in the mean time.

Arent the 172 ph1 ratios really long? - Longer than current? Would it not be best to keep with the valver box as at 7.2k you will be doing about 70 (2), 95 (2), 120 (4)? That's off the top of my head from my old Williams.

Longer yep, I'm sure Matteh will have the exact ratios in a spreadsheet somewhere. JB3 ratio's are pretty good though, nice and short. f0xy reliably informs me they do 149 jelly babies GPS at 7.5k. That's plenty me thinks.

Love 4th pic down and all open pic, looks awesome!!

Could of invited me out for some pics, tutters!

LOL @ Jamie, i said the same tippex comment when i first saw the car ;)

172 Box FTL....id rather have faster acceleration than top speed lol

Valver JB3 is 151mph GPS @ 7500rpm ;) plus, it pulls all the way there at the same rate constantly, dosent get slower and slower and slower the higher the speed gets like the 172!

  Whichever has fuel
172 Box FTL....id rather have faster acceleration than top speed lol

But if the 172 box is longer ratio's, that means you can hold the revs longer in the corners, meaning less gear changes??

Surely thats the idea of a track car.

but it wont accellerate away as quick from the corner as the valver one would, you may have to change up but thats no biggy....

Noticed it a while back when looking for somewhere to take pics, quite a mess now it's all closed. Could do with Renault being there again. Where abouts are you?

Lovely, lovely Birchwood. Used that estate for some photos the other week when my housemate wanted some shots of his car, pity we've got s**t cars though.

Nah not had one yet, joined way back because I was planning to get one but ended up with the Focus. Back now because I'm fairly sure I'm gonna replace it with a 182 when I have the money. If you'd have been selling yours at the end of this year/beginning of next I'd probably have had it away from you, but nevermind.
