im not sure i fully understand this whole remap thing could someone explain?

do you need a special ecu?

is there more than one box that can remap?

can someone link me up?

is there just one map? or different maps?

do the maps cost?

can you fook the ecu?

1.)No only stock ECU is needed

2.)It is a generic map (i.e it isnt custom to your car)

3.)Yes the maps cost but very little

5.)Yes you can fook the ECU but never heard of this happening

4.) fastchip.nl

Lol. You've been on here 5 years and don't know what a remap is? CS has failed you!
Basically, they plug your ECU into a computer and change the way it controls things a little bit.

There is a risk, but as long as you go to a trusted, experienced mapper, it's very very low indeed.

A remap is not free, it takes a fair bit of time to get it right and the necessary equipment is very expensive.

You can get 'off the shelf maps' with something like the RS tuner (allows you to remap your own car) or you can get a proper custom map done; this will give you a better result 99% of the time.

in simple terms.. you buy a little plastic box.. down load some maps from fastchip.nl plug the box into your obdII port, up load the map. Job done. BUT choosing the right map tends to confuse the best of people, which caused an uproar the other day which resulted in Henk (rstuner) leaving the forum..

Choosing the right .cal (map) is not that hard. But in case you want help send me an email and you ALWAYS get an answer. ( may take some time but I always respond to that)

I bought mine about 4 weeks ago and only got round to having a play today.

before loading the new map i had a lumpy idle, a wierd drop off of revs when changing gear from cold (jolted like a sh*t gear change), and a bit of a flat spot at around 3k-4.5k

after loading the new map all of these have gone and the car feels INCREDIBLE!!! i went out for a play after doing it and i had the biggest grin on my face it feels like it is pulling so much harder through the entire rev range. it is a deffinate purchase, especially if your having some lumpy/cold start issues. Im chuffed to bits, didnt think it would make that much of a difference.
