After my wife writing off her old Volvo S40 we needed a new family car which is also her daily.
I have two son's who are 11 and 12 so we needed something big ish and safe, she didn't know what she wanted but something like a Ford Focus fitted the bill (in her eyes) I wanted another Volvo, BMW or SAAB as i think you get so much car for so little £££££££
The only thing Tania didn't want was an estate car, she works in the local school and has to park in a side road. Having an estate would have been a pain for her. So that took Daniels mint 525 sport estate off the list.
We had a budget of £3500 - £4K max, i did look at renting a new Fiesta but it would have far to small. So the hunt was on for something in very good condition with nice history.
Its always the way when your looking for a car that you can never find anything that fits the bill, we found three Saab's and a A4 that sounded great in the adverts. After going to look at them all they wasn't as described. :rage:
Last Monday morning i was on Auto Trader looking at cars and i found a Volvo S60 D5 auto, 3 owners with full service history.
After a call to the owner it was still for sale as it had only gone onto AT Saturday night, the owner was a petrol head in his 60's and had owned the car for 6 years. He also own's one of these which his owned for the last 16 years.
The first owner was the Volvo dealer so the car is fully loaded, they then sold the car with 7k on the clock to a guy who owned it until it had covered 60k.
At 60k it came back in to the main dealer as a PX that's when the previous owner bought it up until it had done 115k. Now the previous owner hasn't got any children or is a smoker so that was good for me.
The car has wanted for nothing, cambelt replaced at 90k and a stack of receipts and a main dealer stamped service book. The previous owner had bought a set of Dunlop winter tyres, 2 had been fitted to the rear to replace the P6000. The other 2 came with the car along with a pair of new Volvo roof bars.
After a 70 mile trip to view the car it was now our's, as soon as we saw it on the owners drive we knew we wanted it.
I know its old and its not everyone's cup of tea, but its perfect for us. My wife car drive it day to day and also cart the boy's about in a big safe barge.
Ive spent the day giving the interior a good hoover and the seats and clean. Tomorrow ill give the wheels a clean and hoover the boot out.
There are a few car park dents that ill get removed then maybe get @Detail Chris to work his magic on the paint just to bring it up to a nice standard.

It has a nice little trick, you can pop up this flap so the shopping bags don't move about.
