There’s this car right....

Where I work (next to a bypass) you get a lot of boy racers driving past all night. Anyway there is this one car (cant tell what it is, cos there is too much body kit on, might be a fiat) and it drives up and down several times a night. Its got something on it that makes it sound like a jet engine when it gets to the top of the revs. It sounds really throughty low down, then when he floors it after a bit you get this lovely (very loud) whooshing whining noise. Its so loud that when its going down the bypass we can hear it from about a half mile away. I think its got a turbo, but I am not sure. It drove round our carpark once and I think I heared a dump vavle, but it was very quite. Cant here a dump valve when its going down the bypass, but you can hear other cars with them when they go down.

So what do you reckon could be making the noise?

I might try and get a recording of it from the car park. It really is a very very nice noise. Its especially cool if your standing in the right part of the car park. The sound comes at you from the road and bounces off the building behind you and it completely surrounds you. Its is definatly a very very very very very very very nice sound.

Erm that sounds like a very fast car, this one isnt that fast. Makes a lot of noise and it appears it can go fast, but when he is on the road he is barely faster than some of the Novas.

I heard two scuberos making the exact same noise at a cruise. It really does sound like a plane doesnt it. It sounds similair to the sound barrier being broken. A mate said the sound was down to nos

or maybe even a fiat punto GT (nasty nasty nasty car)
Whats wrong with Punto GTs? I owned one for nearly 2 years and its the most reliable and fun car I ever had.

Could have been one because they have a very high pressure (18 psi) turbocharger and when coupled with an induction kit, it sounds very whooshy (if thats even a word!)

could be a supercharger, there is a golf with one and it sounds like a very loud high pressure air gun, as he boots it.

i KNOW for a fact its a Fiat Copue 20v Turbo (as Clean16v said!). My mates just bought one and indeed its crazy, very, very quick and sounds like Darth Vader on E.

As far as I am aware I am pretty certain that NOS does not make any noise at all.

Sounds to me like a Supercharger, same as some people love the dump valve noise, (I want one!!) some people love supercharger noise, its a lovely sound when you recognise it.

Mini cooper S has one, not as audible as it should be though.

Well I am working late night tommorow. I will attempt to coax him into the car park to ask him. I aint got a decent mic at the moment to record it.
