FLOL @ this thread... yes the Fabia has nearly the same bhp and more torque... That means everything doesn't it!?!?!?!? The fabia has it's power for maximum of 1500rpm hence why the clio is 2 seconds quicker to 60mph! lol.

In answer to a question to me about doing 40k a year and not being able to afford 2 cars... yes I'd rather have a quick deisel... but you're buying it for it's economy... not it's performance. When a 172 returns 35 - 40mpg on a long run and a Fabia VRS is what, 50mpg??? I'd take the 172 everyday.

its not just all about mpg though a 172 isnt very refined compaired to a diesel, if i have to do a long journey ill take the diesel every time over the 172, apart from the fact it costs pennies to run its smooth, quiet, and goes much better under 5k revs ie around town compaired to the 172
