Thinking of getting a clio sport

Hi just joined the forum and it looks a really great place to find info from.

I have been looking on autotrader and ebay and think i can get a clio sport 172 with my budget. I would like to spend a max of 4k but ideally 3.5k would be better just so I have some rainy day money.

Could anyone tell me the difference between the cup and non cup i didn't even realise there was until I started reading these forums.

Thanks in advance

Matthew

cup = no luxuries, different suspension set up, no gadgets ( auto wipers etc..)
no cup = leather seats, and all the gadgets, standard suspension set up..

Ahh excellent thanks for the reply.

Cleared that one up nicely.

Just out of interest is this similar to what peugeot used to do with their 205,306 and 106 cars?

Thanks again.

Cup also comes with Speedline Turinis and a Cup Spoiler. The Cup Spoiler is similar to the standard item on the non-cupped but has a bigger lip and more uplifted, looks alot better. Alot of members with non Cups buy these parts to fit to their models as they really help the look of the car.

Cup's only came in Mondial blue and Iceberg Silver. The Iceberg Cup's are rare as this colour was only introduced at the end of the life of the Cup.

Ahh cheers guys thanks for the info really useful.

Cant wait to get trawling through the classifieds etc now and see what I can come up with.

If I had the decision again I would go for a 182 with cup packs. Best of both worlds. The handaling up grades and the toy's. Only thing you are missing is about 100kg in weight. Can pick up a 182 for not alot extra now.

172 Cup also didn't have ABS. No AC iirc. Climate control was an option from 2003.

There's all the differences in the guides section. Need to pay you membership first, only a tenner but worth it.

The Cup is the choice. They are great fun as they are light and can hammer a V6 around some tracks. If you can live without ABS and aircon, then the Cup is a must!

Whereabouts are you, Matt? I sure if could see the Local Meetings section (I think you'll have to be a paid member to do so?) - that there would be something in your area soon.

There is normally a wide selection of Clios turning up, so you could see a host of options, first hand.

If a 172 is what you want then either a 172 Cup (a few did have air-con) or a PH1 172 as they look better at the front...and will be cheaper.

172 Cup does not have ABS or traction control so beware in the wet.
