Thinking of selling car and plate

  RenaultSport clio 172 cup
Thinking of selling my Clio 172 Cup within the next few months, have just signed up for this site and was wondering if it would be worth trying to sell it on here before I go trading it in to a garage.
It has a private registration ?? CUP (letter and no. at the ??).
Its original plate is an 03 and has done approx 35,000 miles.

difficult 2 sell on here without being a member .....carefull u dont get banned ...........lol:quiet:

To be honest I would rather sell the plate with the car saving any hassle. I dont honestly know how much the plate is worth but have had loads a people asking me about it so it must attract attention.

Will keep you in mind if I end up trading car in and might take the plate off it to sell

i would take it off as the trade in wont be affected by the plate .......robin fcukers , not meaning sell it 2 me but u would make an extra few bucks seperating . :star:

I dont know much about private plates this 1 came with the car when I bought it, any advice?

If i take it off do i need to put original back on or would i leave garage to deal with that.

How do you go about selling it? what paper work would I have to say I own the plate?

You would need to put the plate on retention - pay your local DVLA office a visit and they will tell you the form to fill in. Putting it on retention will cost you £105. Or you could transfer it to another vehicle (if you sell it to someone) for £80, again via your local DVLA office.

Once you do this, the DVLA will issue you with an age related plate for your car - **03 ***
