This shouldn't happen right?

Washed the 197 today and notice a bit of paint has been chipped off the back edge of the bonnet. Also a stone chip on the drivers door has went to the metal and rust has started forming.

Should the paint on the 197 be like this? Oh and on part of the front bumper there is a very thin layer of paint and you could see the black plastic underneath.

Any opinions before I show it to my dealer?

Get it re-done by the dealer. NO paint should be like that let alone a brand new car

Looks like they used nail varnish instead of paint

This may have been acceptable 15 years, but not anymore.

only problem is most anti-corrosion warranties don't cover corrosion following damage (like a stone chip), so they might refuse to repair the door.

They might do the bonnet though if you can persuade them it hasn't been damaged.

That's not good at all..

I've noticed the paint on mine chips really easily, and there's even a bit on the bonnet where it's run!

They should respray those bits for you - considering how much they cost it shoudn't be too much to ask.

maybe its just mine but mines has some plastric hing over the paint to stop this, you cant tell or see it unles you look very closley at the edge of the panels, dont all clios have this?
