Throttle bodies

Hey, i'm looking into buying a 182 in february.

I'm not sure whether to buy a trohpy a standard 182 (liq yellow), or a mk4 astra gsi.

I've been looking into the clio's and had a drive of a 182 the other night and was well impressed. Mk4 astra seemed sluggish to drive compared with it, but the astra was definately more comfortable to drive and I didn't feel as though I wanted to put my foot down everywhere.

I'm not sure whether to buy the clio and keep it standard or buy throttle bodies/ cams / full stainless / remap for it?

I know we're talking around £2k for the throttle bodies, but what kind of power gains does it bring? Around 220bhp?

and what about cams / remap / tb's? 250bhp?

I'm not sure the kind of gains that the clio would get, but i'm just toying with the idea at the moment.

Thanks, Alex

Edit: Sorry for posting in the wrong place

Quite a few people have had simler work done to their cars...

I am sure theyll be along shorty

But for cams, ITB's, a decent exaust system, remap/standalone management you would be talking around £5K +

Also 250BHP would be quite hard to reach, i think most people make around 220 - 230 with all the above work

throttle bodies on their own give a genuine (as long as the person mapping knows their arse from their elbow) 205-210bhp (thats for nigh on £4K fitted)

to get more you need cams (around 220bhp)

to break 230bhp you need pistons also

pretty much as Fred says really, although you can do it for around £3'500 fitted and mapped on an Omex. There are cheaper options like going with a winky wanky non e-marked ECU, but not worth the risk when the clamp down arrises.
