throttle potentiometer

  Megane 225+
Having throttle potentiometer replaced tomorrow.

Symptoms
-electrical warning light been coming on after 10 mins of driving then goes into limp mode - did this about 4 times over the week-end

then last night electrical warning light & toxic warning light - in limp mode after 20mins.

Same lights this morning & I had the pleasure of driving 20 miles down the M4 this morning at 50mph! - just tucked in behind a tesco lorry - dark glasses & head down.

Took to well trusted garage (my cousin) this morning & the garage have advised this is what needs replacing

Can anyone explain the function & why the toxic light is activated.

I'd just like to know

cheers

Its a primary load sensor...it tells the ecu under what conditions the engine is being run (since throttle angle is relative to airflow for that engine speed), so the ecu can determine fuel and ign requirments for the engines operation.

no, that measures crank angle and position.

phs2 172's have 2 potentiometer assemblies, one on the pedal and one on the throttle body as its FBW......find out which one it is, if it even is the TPS.

Check the map sensor and lambda aswell, they would be easier fix's lol.
