Ticking Noise

Hi,
Last night after driving for a few miles I parked up and as I walked away from my car I noticed a loud ticking sound coming from below the engine. It was quite a fast ticking and coming from the area below the headlight on the drivers side.

Car runs fine apart form the problem its had cutting out which its always had.

This was with the car parked and the ignition off.

After maybe 3 or 4 mins it just suddenly stopped.

Anyone got any thoughts?

Its not that - thats more of a creaking noise - I get that all the time - this is a definite mechanical ticking noise.

I did a search and it doesnt seem like its a problem many people have had.

Mine makes quite a loud ticking noise when its turned off. Its only done it since the heatshield and exhaust centre section was swapped out.

its the charcoal canister solenoid valve,basically a valve that lets fumes from your petrol tank into the engine.
shouldnt be operating with the engine of.i've had this problem for a while changed the solenoid made no difference,wiring or computer fault all it can be really so i'm just leaving it to do what it wants!let me no if you find a cure!
