Ticking Noise....

Sometimes there is a ticking noise in the engine when i start my valver up. Then when i start to move and get faster the ticking gets faster, most of the time after about 3 mins this noises goes away.

It seems to only happen when my car is hot or been running a while before and i turn it back on again , but i maybe wrong....

Any ideas? This has only just started to happen the last few days

They are the cam followers situated in the cylinder head, cost i have no idea

Its really not a mjor problem at all - most valvers have this problem (i say problem although it isnt). If the noise does become annoying then you can get them done not expensive and you could probably do it yourself but if you arent confident then it shouldnt cost more than £200 tops for fitting etc. Make sure you dont get ripped off!

Fastwunz is right, mine does the same thing sometimes but then the tappets quiten down after 5 mins or so. If it starts to happen all the time then you need to get the work done..otherwise just keep driven!

have you checked that theres not a bomb under your car?

it should stop was the oil temp gets upto normal level.

yes sounds like tappets. the oil drains out of them when stood and then they rattle for a while when first started. the tappets should hold there oil for a while when stood but if there worn or full of dirt it can cause the oil to escape when the engine is stood. you could try an oil flush and then change the oil with some clean good quality oil. there are also oil additives around that you could try. if they dont help then the only cure would be new tappets which could get expensive.
