Timing belt just changed,question.

Just had the timing belt changed earlier today, but the fella doing the job didnt put in the new crankshaft bolt(i think thats what its called anyway) I had bought from Renault and gave to him along with the kit. He said he just tightened up the the one that was already in it.

I know its good practice to change this bolt but is it dangerous to not change it?

Any advice appreciated as I am slightly worried :(

As above, there is a length tollerence on them as they're a stretch bolt. Perfectly safe to reuse if it's in tollerence and tightened up correctly but for the price why would you take the chance? Just sling a new one in

Yeah I didn't understand why he didnt change it either, now I guess I'll just return it to Renault unless anyone on here wants it :S Car is running as normal, however sometimes on starting there is a little squeak from one of the belts, probably the fan belt? Anything to worry about?

Apologies if I'm coming across as if I'm worrying about every little detail but I am a perfectionist :p and when the car is your pride and joy its what you do :D

Sorry meant the auxiliary belt yeah, can you grease it or something to stop it squeaking?

Shouldn't need tightening its a spring loaded! Any doubts take it back, if that belt comes of it will probably take the cambelt with it.

What a disaster :( doesn't put in the new cranckshaft bolt i gave to him and the belt squeaks when I turn the car on....

Not to mention the amount of dirt on the steering wheel and mats...

Is there nobody reliable that has common sense out there :S
