timing belt kit, aux belt, dephaser pulley...

just been on the phone to my local renault dealer, a got quote just for parts witch is timing belt kit, aux belt, and dephaser pulley, total price of £295.88 non fitted, £478.00 fitted. I also phoned around a few across the water, got quoted £315.70 for parts non fitted, £510.00 fitted, and another quote at £202.06 non fitted, £470.00 fitted.




amazing how there all renault dealers but come up with different prices, biggest without fitting them £315.70, and lowest been £202.06 thats a big difference.

Renault prices are a total lottery.

so a noticed mate, but am sure which price am going to be going with lol, a also checked gates? they gave me a total price of £370 for all those parts.

I expect they are all plus VAT, and not an aux kit, but only the belt (silly way of doing it). you do get variations between dealers, I don't use my local becuase they're a lot more expensive than the one 30 miles away that delivers. 3rd price is just going to be wrong, the dephaser alone is £176

is that for the AUX belt and tensioner?

just phoned no it was not with tensioner he is away to get me a price for one just now and call me back, the kit with idle and tensioner is £60.00 the aux belt is £12.55 and dephaser is £129.51 all including VAT

a got told a dont need an aux belt kit just belt and tensioner? and when a said to the boy on the phone about an aux kit he said you dont get one:S so am total confused now, a thought a only needed the timing belt kit, aux belt and tensioner and dephaser and seals? whats core plugs mate?

Core plugs are so you can time the cam in.

You should be changing the aux rollers as well, especially the one down the bottom that is so exposed to the elements.

I take it that you havent done an F4R belt before?
If so, its not trivial without the correct tools, so make sure you look into it properly before you take it apart, they arent rocket science but are easier to get wrong than most cars!

Must be without VAT. If its your local which i assume is parks dunfermline. I just ordered an aux belt kit yesterday for £72 inc VAT. Which would be £60 exc VAT

no mate dunfermline quoted me £295.88 all in with VAT and all those prices are with VAT and to pick up.

am not doing the job make my local garage is doing it hes done a few clio cup 182 and said 172 are easier due to not having air con?, but he said hes going to do it as a hommer one sunday and said would be better if a got the parts so a contacted renault if someone could tell me everything a need to purchase that would be really helpful as a thought I only needed an timing belt kit, aux belt, and dephaser.

Yes he is right that the non aircon ones are simpler for the aux belt.

Cool, if he's done a few it should be fine then.

the boy from renault said you dont get a aux kit for mines, he said it looks like mines runs from the crankshaft, water pump, alternator, and the power steering pump? as there is no tensioner listed or rollers for it

The cup setup is different to the normal one we were all chatting about mate. The aux belt is tensioned totally differently :)

lol we all got mixed up then mate, so all a do need it the aux belt? along with the timing belt kit (cam seals) and dephaser pulley?.

thats great thanks, got to admit the price £202 is good for all those parts as I got quote for over £300 buying them all seprate online so its actual pays to try renault dealers.

I'm almost positive they'll discover a mistake with that, there's cheap and TOO cheap. The cambelt kit is £124.50 now, The aux belt is £12.50, core plugs are about £13 for the pair, and the dephaser is £176.18. I can understand discounting the parts, but that difference is WAY more than the trade price margin

al let you know how a get on with these parts then mate, prices a got was kit £65.00 with (cam seals) and it has 2x idles and 1x tensioner, aux belt £12.55, and dephaser was £129.51 with extra charge £3.00 for the bolt and something else with it.

a couldnt tell you mate the price a got was from a
Evans Halshaw, Edinburgh West. a typed in renault dealers popped my postcode in with a 30mile radus and phoned around 3 of them. when a got to the switch board the girl asked parts for pug or renault.

Only way it would seem right is if they have them on the shelf for long enough for them to start getting marked down as a result.
Seems unlikely though on relatively popular items like that.

a honestly dont know, this is my 1st time with a clio cup, closest have had to renault was a megane coupe. a will keep use updated.

core plugs go on the gearbox side as chip said the end that one of the timing tools fit, cam seals consists of a kit 1 for behind the dephaser, 1 for behind the exaust pulley,exhaust pulley bolt,dephaser pulley bolt,dephaser pulley bolt cover and a vvt solenoid seal.!! core plugs aren't the same thing.

also change your crank pulley bolt it costs aroun £9

If you just paid a specialist to do it, it would be far easier, and not that much more expensive tbh

wel if a get all the parts for the price that a stated. and its all getting fitted for £80 from my uncle (may take time) no hurry though as I am going in for my 4th knee operation next month:mad:.. so going to be bed bound for a few months and yes hes got the locking keys has hes done a few 182's but he said a would be easier getting the parts myself from renault. if a had someone do me a list of everything a need for a clio cup 172 2002 non abs or air con. it would be less confusing and easier to know what a need as a thought a had everything said a needed, timing belt kit, aux belt and dephaser pulley and core plugs and a thought (cam seals) where core plugs as renault said on the phone.
