Timing belt

hi everyone, I picked up my mk1 sport 172 on monday, absolutely love it, loads better than my mr2 ever was. Im a bit worried at the moment though. When I start the car from cold in the morning there is a whining noise coming from the timing belt area, not sure if its the belt pulley or alternator or what. It happens for about the first 10 seconds or so on start up. If anyone could help I would very much appreciate it.

Probably the aux belt rather than the cam belt !! If the cam belt was loose youd know about it !!

Have you got a haynes manual for your car ? should tell you in there !! Im not a mechanic tho mate so dont go on what i say !! get it checked out by someone, or ask JAY172 or BenR on here !!

Ok ill ask about, got it booked in at my local renault dealer but not a great fan of main dealers.
