It should still run, your best bet if your unsure would be to take the timing covers off and cheak to see if all the marks are lined up. Power loss can be a number of things, so I would eliminate what you have changed first.

  172 Race Car
mine is down on power, found out at the rolling road day recently. I reckon mine is timed up wrong, wont find out for a month or so till ive got time and cash to do it.

Mine runs absolutley perfect and you would never know, just feels a little slower than my old one and was confirmed by the roller figures.

Mines only 142bhp, ive done some searching and it is possible to be slightly out and still run fine but loose as much as 25bhp.

^ wow they do seem uber sensitive timing wise. I guess thats why everyone is so insistant on the right tools being used!

Mine was done at a small local garage (before i bought it) I did the belt on my old 172 (with the locking tools) and it was fine.

Most others ran 160-165 standard at the rooling road day. Will post up my findings when i do the belt change
