Timing Wont go straight?

Car  A45 AMG 406BHP
Timing on a sport engine.

The timing is out as the tool won't go in easily( takes a big push)

I move each sprocket to get the tool in easily

Then I loosen sprockets, put belt on, tension
tighten sprockets
Take tools out-the horseshoe is hard to get out when removing..
and it's exactly the same
the tool still takes a push to get it in??

Where am I going wrong?

Yes genuine tools

Using all the tools? If yes Fred might be along shortly to explain the timing process for the hundredth time.

Are you using the pulley locking tool in this picture ??

Yea im using all the genuine renault tools! And te one pictured!Ive got

The timing was out before I started

I have to move both cams to get the tool in then push tool in and let the spanners go which puts pressure on the horseshoe
which makes it hard to get the horseshoe back in.as the cams apply pressure onto the horshoe
I have searched and I carnt find where im
going wrong hense why I asked? I've read the processes many of times and it still doesn't go correct!

You do have to wiggle the horse shoe in. But not with loads of force. Think fred says three fingers at the most

You've got the horseshoe and cams up the right way I assume? As the slots are offset from centre....
Also have you got the crank locked in the correct place using an 8mm pin?

Yea it's a hand push not finger!
Yes all genuine tools including the pin
bottom end locked at tdc

Nope
i haven't got the crank pulley on thoufh
its a spare engine I'm working on but I was told it was a fully working engine
Process

Turn over to to tdc so pin goes in(if u look through hole you can see key way)
Belt off
horseshoe in if doesn't fit turn cam sprockets to get in position for horseshoe to fit
put 1509 tool on cambelt side. Lock sprockets. Undo both
leave finger tight
belt on. Tension belt
1509 back on
tighten up cam sprockets.
Done?

nope, tension belt and then rotate the belt backwards thrice, check tension, then lock up inlet exhaust then crank

Ah
so after I've tensioned belt
i remove all tools. ( leave sprockets finger tight)
Turn engine over( backwards few times)
Then stick the tools back on lock everything and tighten?
