Hi I got a 2002 renault clio sports with the 2.0l engine it looks like the timing belt has jumped a couple of teeth is this likely to have bent valves I'm debating weather to spend the money and fix it or scrap it cheers
@Brigsy is correct, if really only 2 teeth out will have just glanced the pistons when the dephaser advanced, I got lucky as mine jumped 2 teeth on the bottom pulley while breaking into a harpin due to a aux belt stripping and I worked out in a few seconds what had happened as was still running on track, was running very lumpy on idle in pits and if revs increased would clatter when dephaser rpm was reached, disconnected dephaser solenoid and didn't clatter. When crank locked at TDC both cams were advanced past the horizontal so locking tool wouldn't go in and could see some faint lines where carbon had just been scraped off the pistons heads by the valve edge
Sorted my issue, broken alternator bracket that caused the aux belt strip, put new belt kit and seals on and touch wood been running just fine since
