Tires on different sized wheels

  Mk5 R32 (ex.182 (Cupped))

Hi all,

Maybe im just being thick... but I have never completely understood all the tyre measurements.... Even after reading different websites.

The bit I cant understand is how do 205/40/17 tires fit on alloys that are 17x7 and also 17x8? Or do they not?

*Confused*

Plz help, lol.

They are streched when they go on... pulled outwards which lowers the profile slightly and reduces slip on corners!

Ah righty... cause ive got some 17x7s coming with 205/40 toyos on this week. Still ok on 7s tho? :D

Not sure, never had wheels that big, but I would think so, hopefully someone with big wheels can answer that for you!

Yes you will be fine! 205 tyres are too narrow for 8" rims though. 7.5" is the maximum for 205 width tyres!
