To strip or not??????

i have a mark 1 phase 2 valver,

at present the engine is relatively standard with light breathing mods, and the interior is totally standard. the interior is also in mint condition with no marks on it at all...

i am contemplating stripping the seats out and replacing the fronts with buckets and harnesses to the rear.....

i am unsure on a few things, how it affects insurance, and then also how much i will miss the comfort...

please help me with my decision..

Yeah it depends on how much you like comfort, i'd say strip it - you can always put the stuff back if it's not to your fancy.

As long as you keep the interior to eventually go back in then yep, go for it, can't see why not.

You always seem to have the rears out anyway so you won't miss that. It just all comes down to what front buckets you get, most aren't exactly famous for comfort.

i find harnesses are a ballache for everyday use,and fell a bit of a numpty fastening harnesses at your work carpark etc

my m8 use to have some really comfy buckets in his 205 gti but they cost him around £650 each i think. Well worth it tho.

if your going to strip it imo do the lot, sound deadening door cards, roof lining, replace them with carbon pannels etc orther wise no real point.

Depends how you use the car.

The back seats are hardly ever used in my Clio, but i just know the day i take out the rear bench i'd need to give 4 people a lift... At the end of the day i don't need to go faster on the road, so i never bother doing it.

I also think people who have harnesses on the road look a trifle gay.

Depends what you use your car for dude! Mine is properly stripped, but I dont have to use it every day...I love the noise, the way the buckets + harnesses hold you in etc, makes the car feel more raw! But i probably couldnt hack it if it was everyday!

most pople are saying,"yeah go for it"but they dont have to live with the fact that you cant have passengers,have to do up harnesses all the time and put up with soo much road noise it could deffen you,.personally i really like ph2 interiors and would never tthink of stripping one,but its up to you

I loved my Cup with the rear bench completely out, sounded better for a start. Managed to keep them out 90% of the time, very rarely need to take more than 1 person anywhere and could have coped without if it wasn't so easy to just plonk that back in.

I covered about 16k in a year with them out, never bothered me.

Mines been stripped out for a few weeks now and i love it Only the rear at the minute but i might go all the way when i drop the valver in.

Ive done quite alot of stripping to the 172.

Make sure you buy some decent seats.

I have Kevlar Cobra Imola S' and are nice and comfy.... the monaco's were well uncomfy.

I also have cobra imola S's and agree they are well comfy, find them better on my back then the standard 172 seats.

It is a lot noisier with everything out the back but you just turn the music up a notch :rasp:

So what if people think you look silly wearing harnesses on the road, i know which id rather wear in the event of an accident!!

A lot of people will think your stupid for driving round in a clio anyway :nono:
