TOAD alarm going off randomly then beeping 4 times on reset

Will just go off randomly and when I dis-arm it, it beeps 4 times, what area does that relate to and how do I stop it

i had one of these a while back, i think it beeps 4 times to inform you the alarm has been goin off.

Once you've disarmed it after it going off, switch on you ignition and the led will flash a set number of times, this will tell you where the fault is,
2 flashes= Optional sensors
3 flashes= Doors(-)
4 flashes Boot/Bonnet
5 flashes Doors (+)
6 flashes Ultrasonic Sensors
7 flashes Ignition

As MrP has told you, its the boot/ bonnet circuit that has caused the alarm to go off.
If the installer has used the original bonnet switch to active the alarm, this could be your problem.
The Renault bonnet switches are notorious for failing particularly when its wet (car wash) or raining.

Take the switch out of its mounting postion and clean ot up with either proper switch cleaner, or if you must WD40. I dont like the latter on switches as it only provides a temporary solution.

You could also clean it up with a cotton bud and some lighter fluid if you have any.

Ok do you mean the switches on either side of the bonnet? One near the end by the washer bottle etc bit of plastic sticking out which goes down when pushed?

WOW.... a proper Thatcham install.....2 bonnet switches !!!!!

The answer is BOTH, but I would check first to see if the original Renault one (plastic one on the right facing the engine) has been rewired as they are normally 2 wire, back to the OEM module that feeds the indicator panel on some models.

Lol nothing is proper on my car, so turns out it was only 1 bonnet switch The switch was totally shagged, gone blue and corroded, sorted it out though... it was only 1 wire... is this right?
