Has anybody got one of these fitted? Just wondering if you need the extra aerial to make it work in a 172.

yes you do, unless you hang it on the drivers side window, even then its a bit on and off

The aerial is needed, but then you can mount the ttg any where in the car you like.

I have mine velcroed to the clear window at the bottom of the screen. The wire is run, hidden, towards passenger a-post and then under the dash.

It exits through the ash tray area to the ttg.

My ttg is installed in such a way that I can take it out to use in other cars.

If this was not the case, I would route the wires so they are unseen.
