TomTom Shite Customer Service

  Clio 182
Obviously I've been having lots of problems with my 510 but they won't give me a replacement as it's outside of 28 days. Given it's only a few months old, I think that's pretty s**t service - is that the norm these days?

Re: TomTom s**te Customer Service

I think you are wrong.

They have a customer service number, you call them up, tell them the problem, they pick it up the next day for repair.

Any company will only repair after 28 days or replace if it cannot be fixed.

Their service is pretty good to be fair.

I got a 910 and its excellent. My buddy has another 910, poor battery life, phoned, complained, collected next morning, new unit delivered 3 days after.

I've never had any problems or heard of any problems with TOM TOM Customer Service.

Maybe its just a one off. I'd email them and write a letter aswell and i'm sure your'll get it sorted.

I know, I've spoken to them...

My point is I don't feel repairs are acceptable within such a short period and they informed me it would take 5-10 days to return it.

Most companies will sadly try and get away with the minimum possible to meet legal requirements when it comes to faulty goods even if it's within a fairly short space of time. Obviously it will vary some are very good and offer replacements a long time after they have to. I think you should give up and not buy anything electrical in future you seem to be doomed with electronic goods, lol.

TomTom DONT repair you product normally.

They replace it with a refurbished unit. IIRC there will be an "R" on the bottom info area.

Unless they have changed there policy...

(My new unit has not been for repair, but i wud argue if they sent me a damn refurbished unit)

I bought a TomTom Go in December 2004, It stopped working last week.

Phoned them up on Monday, they picked it up on Tuesday, a replacement was dispatched today.

All at a cost of a phone call and £33. Bargin Much cheaper than buying a new one!

I was looking at the 510 if I had to replace my Classic. IMO its teh best GPS system out there, has exactly the same journey services as the 710 and 910 just non of the silly extras, like the hard drice, ability to play music etc.

Does seem to be the way... 14 days on the Mac, 28 days on the TomTom... and yes agree with the last point too lol.

To be fair tomtom is a VERY small company.

They are quite limited to what they can do and are operating within the law.
