TomTom

Whats a good one now-a-days?

I lent mine to the fat bint at work and she broke the mount thing. Probably tried to rest her dinner on it or something. Anyway, I could just buy a new mount but its old now, one of the first ones so takes up half the windscreen.

There seems to be so many of them. Dont want to spend a fortune, so lets say under £200 really. Uk + Europe ideally.

Dont need remote/bluetooth/hold songs shizzle. Just a woman that can boss me about and tell me where to go

Got the 720, its awesome.

It came in pretty cheap from Amazon, but we are VAT free here so that helps.

I have the TomTom 910. Full maps of Europe, USA & Canada out of the box. I bought mine in Euros abroad, and can't remember what it cost TBH. It's good though. Remote control is quite important in modern cars too, as the windscreens are getting further away :D.

I've got the basic TomTom One. It's fine. I don't need anything better TBH.
It takes me from A-B, it's got maps of the UK and Ireland (I never leave the country) and I can choose whether I want Yoda or Darth Vader to tell me which direction to turn.

I've got the basic tomtom one too and I'm happy with it. It does the job just fine. Sure it's missing the new roads, but as long as I'm heading in the right direction it soon sorts itself out :p

LMAO @ needing Nav on the Isle of Wight! ;)

I've got a TomTom One with the Euro maps. £110... job done!

Lots of poverty spec TomToms amongst the full fat heroes ;)

Isn't that like pouring Tesco value ketchup all over a gourmet meal?

Garmin are far superior units. I used to work at motorworld a while back :eek: and would cringe everytime some1 asked for a tomtonk 1.

nüvi 265WT are fantastic units. Used them to do a few delivery runs... records your top speed though haha. Didn't realise till manager called me up on it :p

I have got a garmin nuvi 250, it's AWFUL!! Hence why i'm looking for a TomTom again.

^^ what problems have you encountered?

i feel tomtoms process the maps really slow/ laggy. Taken a few major wrong turns with them. Eg. Wrong motorway turn off . eek

See i find the oposite, the maps zoom in on TomToms so you can see which one to take, gammin just stays zoomed out, it's not cear enough.

The Garmin unit I experienced sounded like a f**king dalek. I'd rather have a woman barking (incorrect) directions at me than listen to a Garmin and eventually get there.

"TUuUrn LLEFT!!! TURN LeEEFT" f**k off!

I think I still have a window mount for the old school one butter if you want it. Unless it was binned in the move!

Please could anyone with a TomTom tell me whether forest tracks are shown on the maps and also whether you can input locations as OS grid references? Also, can you plot routes as a series of grid references or are you only allowed one destination?

I've used maps for years but after getting lost while driving in a forest at 2am one cold November night I am thinking of getting a satnav, even if it's only to pinpoint where I am
