Tools for changing cams

  DON'T SEND ME PM'S!!
you need a head gasket kit to change cams? really?

you need more timing tools than that, and that horseshoe tool isn't the strongest. They bend easily

Hey I don't know I've never done it before, the haynes says that all gaskets should be replaced.

Is that tool alright if it's only going to be used once?
What tools do I need?

Seriously.... Pay somebody to do it.

If you don't know what tools / parts are needed you won't have a clue how to complete the job.

I would, 519 is closest to me, but they won't touch it because I already have bought the cams...

That kit doesnt have the tools to physically lock the cams in place at the timing belt end, so you risk putting the timing out as you are doing it up.

Its far easier if you have the proper renault tools.

You could try Michael Woodford Motorsport over near staines if you want it done right, bit further from you but they are enthusiasts and enjoy working on these cars (they both have 172s themselves) so arent worried if they've made a profit on selling the parts or not particuarly so they'll happily just charge you a fair rate for work done if you want to supply your own parts IME as a friend of mine had his cams done there which were C&B's he'd bought not through MWM anyway.
They can also remap your car, which is going to be essential if you change the cams.

or they have a section on this forum as well.
