You DO NOT need spring compressors for the 172/182's 100% FACT
9/10 times you can get the top nut off with just a 21mm socket and a long breaker bar, sometimes they refuse to budge, and you'll need an impact gun
rear, undo the bottom bolt on the shock (18mm) remove the bolt on each side. Jack up rear and old springs will fall out, replace with new ones and lower bit by bit til they locate properly, refit 18mm bolts (again use the jack to help line up the bolt into the hole) JOB DONE
Front all you need is a 17mm ring spanner, 21mm socket + rachet + 21mm ring spanner, and a hammer (getting the strut bolts out sometimes requires persuasion!!!)
undo 17mm top mount nut, remove old spring, replace with new one, pull shock all the way up and put top mount back on (a bit tricky as the shock always sinks back down, you might need a mate to help you) tighten up 17mm nut, this compresses the spring
refit to car, go for drive and smile!!!!!
