You can get to all behind the headunit etc with only the top off.
Dash strips off
Top cowling off from two screws underneith
All visible screws along the join off
A pillars out, they're held in by the door seal and one clip you push in about 3 inches from the top.
There's 3/4 more screws in the windscreen vents along the top
pull 45 degrees to the rear of the car to get it away from the lower half. If the pass side won't come off it'll be caught on the clips at the top of the airbag. Simply push down and towards the front of the car to work them off.

+1. Very helpful guide! I used this when I fitted my Tweeters and you can't go wrong if you follow it.
Also the strip with the hazard switch on above the headunit does come off, which improves access, just use a flat head screwdriver.
As does the little plastic bit just above the ashtray, which helps so you can put your hand up and pull the wires from the headunit down a bit out of the way to slide the headunit back in.
