Top mounts design change?

Just replaced my top mounts and there seems to be a change in design. My old ones had a metal collar inserted down through it that was missing in the new ones. Then the final part(inside the engine bay) in my old ones came as one with a raised collar that went over the but that holds the shock together. The new part comes in two pieces and touches the shock nut??

Just had some as well, confused the f**k out of me.

Not fitted yet, but I had them on the shock and the rubber didn't sit tight.

There is another part you need which doesn't come with the top mounts. It's number 9 on the drawing, I can get a part number tomorrow for you as I had to buy some Saturday, they're about £10 each though!

The part combines the collar and thin nut in one.

Trouble is Renault have fucked up.The combined collar/nut (now 27mm spanner size) replacement has a thread that is too long(too many threads),and becomes thread bound on the damper rod before it contacts the top mount bearing.
Do not use it unless you modify it by removing (drilling out)the excess threads to same number as the original 17mm half nut,or use the original 17mm nut & spacer, with suitable washers above the 17mm nut to obtain the correct clearance,or you will trash your shocks.
To anyone comtemplating changing your top mounts ,get the original configuration ones on eBay,or from a reputable motor factor.

Thanks for that advice, I was concerned that the rubber wasn't tight to the top of the shock. I'll drill out some of the threads so it will screw down further.

Your actually unable to buy the original collar from Renault anymore.

I've just reused the metal collar and the upper (engine bay side) rubber bush.
I'm now thinking I've put the drivers side bearing in upside down so that's tonight's entertainment sorted

Only the bearing should contact with the under turret rubber!

I am OK to just re use the original metal collar and the upper rubber bush though aren't I add they aren't really a critical/wearing part

Yes I meant with the bearing there too. I'll have a search later for it as couldn't find anything the other day.
