Torque Wrenches - your reccomendations

as above really, seeing as i'm starting to do bits and pieces under the bonnet and certain things require certain torque settings, I thought i'd invest in a torque wrench

So to those of you who have one, where'd you get it from and how much did it set you back?

without going mental with the like of snap on @ £300 a go, something from draper, halfords, teng will do for a home mechanic

Halfrauds on trade are cheap enough (£56 normally for the smallest one I think)... My other Teng one was a few hundred but only decent for bigger stuff as its got a higher range

Not sure, £35 rings a bell for some reason but im not sure to be honest. I will have the reciept somewhere but this was like January 2009!

I'd be interested to know this as I was thinking about getting one as they can come in handy & I don't want to 'over tighten' my wheel nuts (if this is possible?)

I have a small Halfrauds one that goes from 10nm -to- 60nm, and a large Teng one that goes from 70nm-ish -to- 300nm+

To cover everything you really need a 3/8" drive one and a 1/2" drive, that will do almost everything on the car.

The 3/8" ones are good as they will probably fit most of your existing sockets without an adapter and they are quite small, suitable range for most engine work. Will struggle with some of the suspension / drive nuts etc tho.

im after a torque wrench that will be enough to do the wheel bolts.

i have a halfords one but only goes to 60nm, i believe the wheel nuts are ~100nm?

don'twant spend silly money though!

Unless a torque wrench is regularly calibrated it will never be accurate, which makes buying one a bit pointless tbh.
