touch up f##k up!

quick one.....my mate, J, has today painted some stone chips. problem is where he has done it a bit too much and you it looks raised on the paint work, no laquer used, can something be done to smooth the paint down?

try using a bit of T-Cut on them... dont rub too hard though other wise youll be through to the undercoat... polish the area afterwards as the t-cut will remove any polish that is there...

Re-spray the area or panel unfortunatly i think.

Thats why i wont touch my stone chips till i see rust then ill get the bonnet re-sprayed, other wise it looks like blobs on the finish.

oh and next time tell him to touch in the chips with a match stick cut into a point... the brushes tend to add too much paint..

T-cut will take off paint layers but not when it has been laquered, so basically it will take of the excess paint on your mates up to the level of the laquer!

I use the touch up paint then use a surgical knife to very gently remove the raised paint. It takes a steady hand. T-Cut afterwards and you cant even see it!

Sounds severe but it only on the paint i have just applied.

My guess woult be T-Cut

use 1200 grit wet&dry...and get the area plus a few mm surrounding it smooth....

then head off to halford for some clear laquer. Spray it and use T-cut etc, i fint autom glym paint restorer works best on the laquer. then poslih.....you wont see if after..

Your mate would have been better using a cocktail stick or a sliver of thin card to work a tiny bit of paint in at a time rather that the thick brush which comes with the paint and blobs it on.
