Toyo Proxes Any Good??

Needing to get 4 New tyres for some 172 wheels and dont know what to get!

Ideally less than £50 each, and not sure on weather to get 195 or 205?

Not going to be used on a track or anything though

I don't like Toyos at all but a lot of epopel do I thik in 16 spec there not bad.
I'd go for Conti sports or F1's or GSD3 or whatever there called infact I'd run bald remolds rarther than Toyos again.

I used to use toyo proxes T1 -r's and T1- s's on my old 172 . Not very good in the wet to be honest mate . Got a 182 with exaltos on now , WOW , what a f*ckin big difference :)

yeah i'm not a big fan either, in the rain they were dangerous, even in the dry i didnt think they gave the best of grip

ant

  yep.
mine dont seem that great in the dry tbh!

that run up to the cat and fiddle the other week was dry [well it was when i went up!] and i was sliding about a bit.

Toyos are sh*te tyres, they wear really quickly and grip is not good as said, stick to 45s unless you want a hard-ride. Would be interested to hear people's views on whether to go for 195/45/16 or 205/45/16? As I am not sure what to do with mine.

i found the TOYOs poor on my old car... although the car was 2ft off the ground so that may have been the reason.

i wouldnt have them again, I use Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD-3s now. excellent tyre :)

  106 GTi
Ran them on my old 205 GTi, great tyre in the dry, dire when it was even slighty moist out!

Dont last long though on a 130 brake 205, so would like to think how long they would last on anything with more power. Go for the F1's instead.

Toyo proxes are great. Wet weather they arent the best gripper but they arent going to send you in a hedge unless your stupid! Id say superb in dry + fun in the wet!

I really liked the Toyo Proxes tyres on my old car. Dry grip was excellent and even in the wet they were good. I also had no problems with tyre wear but I know others reported differently. I'd definately buy again.

I'm trying a set next on my Cup, I've never run anything other than standard Contis or Yoko A539's in standard 195 size before.

Will be interesting to see what they're like, especially as I'm going up to 205's and also cos I think (unlike 99.9% of people) that A539's are great!

I used to think they were great tyres, I ran T1-S's and T1-R's on my 172.

Then I experienced the Exalto 2 and realised they are in a different league to be honest. PE2's or GSD3's are both better in the dry and the PE2's are unbeliveable in the wet in comparison.

My 172 has Yoko A539's on it now and I think they are a good tyre, no problems yet.

What price difference are the Exalto 2's compared to the Toyo?

Conti's for me - affordable and adaptable.

The Standard RS-1 Michelin Pilot SX I orginally had when new were immense in the wet.

i read alot that Toyo Proxes are not good in the wet and you need deep pockets if you buy them too

I've used PE2's and GSD3's but at the moment sticking to the GSD3's just brought 4 off mytyres
