  www.cliocupexperience.com
Recently got 4 fully fitted for 65 quid each! Just got them to price match.

Most places appear to be around the 70 quid mark delivered.

For 888's?! Thats cheap! Where's that from Jon?

Group buy on another forum has 4 tyres delivered for £235 which I thought was great value.

Edit - everybody knows the 888's are track tyres right, not T1-R's or whatever they are. £29 each? I'd be gobsmacked.

My mate races a pug on 195/50/15 triple 8's and he reckons they're good for 4 seconds quicker round Combe.

That must mean they are a seriously good tyre!!

  106 GTi
If they are anywhere near as good as the A048's on my mates 205 round Combe they will be awesome, never experienced so much grip through Tower when warm.

How much better are theses than the toyo's? What is their durability like?

They are a completly differnt tyre!!!

The T1's are ROAD tyre

The R888's are a semi slick RACE tyre

Although road legal they will be shite untill warmed up, esp in the wet, and they won't last long on the road.

Will be much better on track cus thats what they are designed for, you'll find road tyres tend to melt if given serious abuse on track

just to save peoples confusion...

Toyo T1S road tyre on the left, Toyo R888 road/track tyre on the right

yeah R888's. That was on a group buy on WC that Gaz arranged iirc and Andy can do them around that price too. Dunno if that was just for me as a one off though :) lol. I'll find out if you want as I'm sure he'd do a group buy and meet half way in the country to fit and balance for people, as they have the race truck thing with tyre putter onner doodad.

Think the 16's were around £60-70 for the newer Ph2 wheels as well. I'll ask Andy to confirm, I could be way off, but pretty sure it was something like that for 15's and 16's respectively.

someone i know was running these on his vx220 on the road and tells me they are fantastic in the dry but scary in the wet, is this true??

i also hear that using these tyres on a dry track can knock seconds off ur lap times!! am thinkin using a dedicated track wheel and R888's for next year!!

They werent lieing. great and relatively cheap track tyre and yes will knock down lap times. need to be more awake driving on them tho when they are up to temp there is so much more grip. no forgive in them. excellent tho. miles better than road tyres!

Hi

I've not posted much as I don't have the time, but have always followed the forum. I've just sold my clio after a fantastic year of trouble free motoring. I did a few trackdays and will be shortly selling my wheels and tyres (Toyo 888s). I'm a Cliosport member so I presume I can just post in the for sale section? They are the A-tech wheels that can be seen on the Ktec website:

http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=2172

They're 6kg a corner lighter than standard and the tyres have 3-4mm left on them. On a clio this easily equates to at least 2 trackdays depending on your driving style ;) . Like I say I'll be advertising them later for £325. Not sure about the P&P yet.

Cheers

Jonny

Parada's are equally as good grip wise on the road and last a lot longer than 888's plus are cheaper.

From a road use point of view the only advantage a 888 has over a Parada is the stiffer sidewall. I found the levels of grip to be the same if not better with the Parada's

Are these road legal?

/edit. yes they are.
however how will they be during the winter months on the road?

Paradas are road tyres, 888's are track tyres that are road legal. The sidewall on the Paradas is much softer (them being a road tyre) and won't give you anywhere near the grip of the 888's on track!

888's will be fine in damp road conditions if it rains on the way home, but I wouldn't use them on an everyday road car.

www.camskill.com are superb, have used them in the past and they'll match a price iirc.

If you can't get 888's then try the Hankook Rs2's - i'm on them at the moment and they're excellent + good value.

Will only be using R888's for trackdays, exalto pe2's for everyday use.

Apparently they grip better in the wet than road tyres once fully warmed up, which can be hard to do on the road.....dont' forget they are cut slicks, not full slicks

  Trophy #473
Ive found paradas side walls are still to soft for road use, PE2's are the sensible buy.
R888's i havnt tryed yet.

They didn't fill me with too much confidence thats for sure. As soon as you get standing water i'd rather be walking.

Me too.

I've run other branded but similar track tyres in the pouring rain and just damp conditions.

In the rain, they're death-traps, and in the damp, you have to continually work them hard to keep the temperatures up. Even then, they're nowhere near as forgiving as road tyres once you exceed their limit of grip.

I'll be running Dunlop D01Js on my road going Cup, but it will only get used on dry days.
