Toyo R888 - Where do you get yours from?

  Cup Turbo, Flamer
Camskill have none in stock and all my usual searches have come back the same as well!

Anyone know of retailers with them in stock?

Cheers!

Know that Toyo have recently cut supply to a lot of smaller suppliers with the R888, but Camsill is not exactly small!?

wow £73.19 for 195/50/R15
I paid 60 each delivered from camskill. I hope they have more instock when i need new rubbers

I've been looking at these, but the sizes are a bit odd for a 182 on 16" rims. The best match I can find is 195/50/16. What do people recommend as a track tyre for 16" rims on the 182? The R888 in the size I quoted above are rather expensive, even for a CS high roller

EDIT: I see that Reyland Motorsport have 215/50/16 listed at £120 a piece. They should be fine for a 182? 195/50/16 are under £100 - better option?

Ive never seen you ask for advice - usually just your input lol

The 215 wont fit..

Do you mean in terms of suspension/arch clearance, or just that they're too wide for the rim? 195 are cheaper anyway so I have no problem going with those :D

EDIT: 205 only appears to be availbale in 55 profile, which is a bit chunky in terms of appearance and will throw the speedo off even more?

I read on here a few times that people say to put 205's on as they are wider? Dont know if thats due to sometimes the type of alloys used though.

Ok, cool. So I'm guessing 195 is the best all-round option for a 182? I aren't wanting to go 55 profile for the road. May as well buy some 15" track wheels TBH.

The problem is, i can find them, but at stupidly high prices! Reyland have been the ceapest so far

^^ Believe it or not the 195/50/15 r888 seems as wide as a PE2 205:S

I'm running RS2's on road & soon to be on track, so far they are fantastic.

In a 1000 miles i tested Paradas, Conti 3's & RS2's & these are my choice;)

R888s are alway a little oversized compared with road tyres so best to stick with standard sizes max. 215/50/16 would be massive tractor tyres even if it was a road tyre!!

I've heard that Toyo are tweeking the design of the R888's which is why there are limited stocks in the UK at the moment. Dunno if that's true though?

The limited stock is because they don't want to make too many of them at this point in time. We can't get most of our cooper range at work because of this reason:mad:

I just got mine from our local Toyo dealer. It's a nightmare gettig tyres cheap over here though :(

I was in the same situation as you. I wanted r888 but they were very expensive for 16"wheels. So i bought some OZ F1's and there isnt a single bad point about doing it.
Smaller wheels will be lighter, therefore less unsprung weight = better handling, faster acceleration. cheeper wheels. Makes the car a little lower = lower centre or gravity.

The list keeps going, So yeah get some track wheels. i think there's some OZ F1s on Ebay :)

Sorry, I missed this post. Thanks. I am definitely starting to think that 15" track wheels may be the way forward. Especially considering my PE2s are not yet completely wasted. Lots of beading 'residue' that seems to stay on the rears forever but, still legal tread, even if the very outside edge of the fronts are almost bald. Coupled with the fact that the standard rims are hardly designed with brake cooling in mind - a set of 15" track wheels and tyres looks a good bet.

I am considering coilovers too. I presume I'm correct in thinking I should get these setup on the 16" wheels to avoid potential issues when using my road rims?

i'd have them set up for track use personally, if your reason for buying coils is for track work.

there shouldn't be massive issues for road use, most likely tyre wear, but nothing safety related if that is what you are thinking?

a set of 15's makes quite a change to the feel of the car, if you are planning a few trackdays i think they are a good idea.

IIRC as long as the 16's have the same offset and rolling radiius as the 15's, won't matter. Which coilovers are you looking at?

I was more thinking about arch clearances when I roll on 16" road rims but, I guess that won't be an issue as I'm not thinking about a mad drop. Perhaps 40-60mm would be fine on 15 and 16? I'd like to have it setup mainly for track, as I think that is where the car is going now, so wheel travel is not of major importance. Saying that, I will still want it to be ok on a slightly bumpy B-road, so ~40mm may be the max?

Erm...I'm not sure about which suspension to choose. I'm thinking H&R but, only really because they seem to be respected on here. I don't know enough, technically, to be able to make an informed choice. Yet. The prime goal will be massively reduced pitch and roll, whilst retaining the abilty to drive on the road without shattering my spine.

no worries, you shouldn't have any issues at all with clearance.

it's worth remembering that going too low won't be ideal for track work too. if you go too far down you will end up with more understeer.

~40mm is the way forward then?

Do any of these kits allow a touch of neg camber adjustment at the front?

EDIT: Cheers Warren. I amy well take you up on that some day soon.

as far as height goes, i can't remember the exact details, but i think that wishbones level gives the ideal roll centre.

give these guys a call if you want, they will be able to explain much better than i can!

i think both the h&r's and ast's have camber adjustment?

cool, that's probably what i was thinking of, i've never tried either to be honest.
always been more than happy with the kw's though:)

Thats what I'm getting in a week or so, good to hear you're happy with them.

which ones are you going for?

i've driven four different clios with v3's and competition stuff and they have all been awesome!
