i have t1-r's and they are awesome in the dry but piss poor in the wet,,,

the t1-s is meant to be a great improvement on the t1-r's tho

Great in the dry, bit of a compromise in the wet. A bit too soft so if you spin a lot the wheels you will end up doing an indefinite contract with mytyres forthe supply of them.

The T1-R's are the newer version, I find them ok, just take it easy in the wet as with any tyre...

T1-S are a bit weird - sometimes they feel grippy as hell, even with the recent crap conditions, but other times they are just crap.

They aren't very progressive either - grip, grip, grip, sliiiiide with not that much warning - they're fairly easy to drive round when you're on a mission but I'm not looking forward to having to do some sort of emergency manouevre in the wet as they just don't want to bite into the road unless you're feeding the power in...

Eagle F1's were a million times more progressive and I actually feel like they had more dry grip as well, bizarrely.

oooops got it the wrong way round... but yeh i dont cain it in the wet... and i only have a 1.2 so i cant cain it anyways lol

Top help guys, I know there are so many options so its a difficult thing to ask, but after some of the feedback... I have just ordered the latest Toyo T1-Rs. I think the reason is, I am only really on a 'mission' when the weather and roads allow (dry) so I think the best performing tyre at that price range will be the T1-R's. I hope I've bought the right ones.. but either way... I dont think they will be a poor tyre.

Thanks! I had a tight deadline... so had to ask in a hurry.

T1-S's alwasys used to have the reputation of being s**t int eh wet, but awesome int eh dry, Y0z always used to run them on his cup IIRC, remember him turning up to a meet wiht them on and they were sticky as anything

Well... in that case.. I'm happy enough... I know he's not your everyday casual driver... so if he stayed on the track, they are alright with me! lol. and we would think then that the T1-R's are not going to be a bad choice then. I know there are always better tyres.. but I think these will be good. :)

very good in the dry for the money you pay for them, in the wet not so good but who drives like a c**k in the wet anyway, i recomend them and will probably always use them, they are a bit soft but the t1-r are supposed to wear alot less

no difference at all between the t1-s and t1-r, apart from the wear rate in opinion

I've tried both yes and tbh I did'nt notice a discernable difference between T1S & R...

okay!! that my 1st report from someone thats tried both, are they both good in damp conditions... rather than when the roads are flooded (which is when I wouldnt want to drive fast in any case).

they are pretty good in damp conditions, but dont expect to get a good launch, its quite easy to spin the wheels damp or wet

But it's not just about driving like a c**k - it's about the ability of the tyres to help or hinder in an emergency manouevre situation!

Yes, I don't hang around when it's wet but only really when I'm running the Eagle F1s as you can literally drive like it's dry on those from my experience (the GSD2s that is). Toyo's are much the same while you're going in a straight line and in gentle bends, but when it comes to braking and cornering (which is usually what emergency manouevres consist of), the F1's bite through the wet to the road below and will stop you or steer you where you want to go. The Toyo's just lose all grip and leave you sliding in the direction you were originally going...

ok in the damp imo not great in the pissing rain though..for the price I pay they do the job! Don't expect them to last forever as previously mentioned though...

I've had T1s's...

Very sticky once warm - a fab summer tyre.

I did a lot of wet driving in them, but the tread had already worn down to 3mm... so not a fair test... but they were bad!

I got 12k out of my fronts, which included airfield days, and 13laps round the ring (me driving), and 2-3laps someone else driving.

T1r's are the newer one, and are meant to be better in the wet - because of the tread pattern.

Ran the T1s on both my 205 and 309 Gtis, loved them in the dry, where nice and cheap so over looked the fact a set of fronts was only lasting as little as 6k at a time at one point, but they did give me some brown trousers moments in the damp. Did'nt find them to bad when it was wet and with standing water, but on damp roads after rain, they could be hit or miss. I'm not sure what the lateest version are like but I would be tempted to pay the extra and get some F1s.

fair point, have to agree with the sliding in the wet etc, but for the money they do the job, ive had a few emergency braking incidents in the pissing wet and its been fine for me, but corners and traffic light grand prix its just not even worth trying,

ive tried the F1's and found them only slightly better in the wet but not a huge difference, but for value fo rmoney i cant fault the toyos

I was recently in the market for a set of tyres and was after either GSDs or PE2s, but the guy in the shop reckoned that the new Toyo T1R (if that's the newer one) was the stickiest. The others weren't offering more grip for the additional outlay. He runs Toyos all the time and he could have anything he wants. He did say that they were soft and would therefore have a shorter lifespan (depending on how you drive of course) - but that's what makes them sticky.:D

Ha ha, had a niggling doubt after this thread so checked what the store had ordered - turned out to be the older 'S'. So now gone for the Goodyear GSD3 instead. Like someone said, it's the one thing that keeps you in contact with the road, so don't skimp on it.
