Track day cars on Clio Sport

How many track day cars do we have on here ( im taking proper track day cars that are more for the track than the road )

I have had a great year doing a few track days this year and cant wait till next year to do a load more and was thinking how many other people have a track car that they run .

I have seen so far the below and have had a good read of the posts but are there any more knocking around

2x track vans

Extra has done Mallory park 3x, Blyton 3x, Croft, Teesside, Cadwell Park, Donington, Rockingham. Before track use it lived on the qtr mile, must have done 100+ runs over the years at various venues. Its still as far as im aware the fastest Extra in europe with a 12.67qtr & 4.1 sec 0-60. Hardly used on the road as paddle clutch, solid engine mounts etc not too road friendly.

Kangoo has took over from it recently. Used a bit on the roads this year but bought to track. Every mod has been done to increase performance in some way. Done Croft, Teesside, Blyton & Cadwell in it up to now. Croft booked for 20th October, id be out in it every week if i had the dollar. Its so cheap to run compared to my Extra which is awaiting a new engine.

I’ve got a 106 GTi that is used for track and the odd blast on the road but I’m starting to not enjoy road driving with it.

Unfortunately hasn’t been used as much as I would like due to funds and unforeseen circumstances, crashed it, repaired it, then killed engine. Hopefully back out next month and ready for a map over winter ready for next year to be used a bit more.

My first track project that has no purpose other than to be a track toy -

Spent 18 months getting it track ready but as is the way with these things, there’s always something else it needs. Did my first track day at Rockingham last week and loved it, Bedford booked in November and hopefully I’ll get to take it along to the major tracks around the UK and possibly beyond..

This has gradually made the transition to more track car now, avoided calling it that until the cage went in as it isn't a track car without the essential safety items imo.

Still gets used on the road and is fully rosd legal, would hate for it to be a trailer queen, no way to test new setups etc out other then on track. Doesn't do a lot of road miles these days granted..

Did not know we had so many knocking about on here all look great and a good mix from FWD , RWD , small and vans

Would be good to see how many we can get on track next year at one venue for the day .

I still have a few bits to do to get to the level of the above cars ( engine swap next week ) and lots more practice as im still very much in the novice ranks but have very much been bitten by the track day bug .

After we sold our track appropriate cars, my mate asked if I wanted to go twos up on a track car. “Yeah, no bother, give me a month or so to see where I’m at with cash”

Two days later; “mate I’ve bought an mx5” lol.

It goes so well around corners! But lacks any grunt on the straights so a turbo kit is being eyed up

Used to have a ST170 which was only ever used on track. Still road legal to get to places though.

Was fully caged and running itbs with a standalone......completely stripped out inside too which kinda ruined it a bit. Still don't know why I did it, but I stripped it for parts earlier this year and then ended up buying my mates 197

Clio is still pretty standard really. Makes traveling to the ring alot nicer than going in the focus. Has since had a half bolt in cage

Does have an mot... great for a Sunday morning blast! So much noise/vibration and smell but I love it!..even though there’s always something that needs attention...windscreen water jets/bottle/pump has failed!!!!

Ive been tuning it since 2008 when I was rich!!!!

Bought the first trackcar a good few years ago now, was great fun on the few days we used it.

We then decided to move the cage etc over to my then daily mk1 and use that instead as it was a better base car. Doesn't get as much use as it deserves due to time/money but it gets a fair bit of road use during summer.

Black Gold 182 - used for track only although it is taxed, tested and insured for the road so I can move it between lockup and home without trailering it.

Done Cadwell 4 times, Croft Circuit and the Nurburgring this year. Going to do more next year a bit further a field.

Some great track cars in here that I hadn't seen before. Been doing track days for 3 years now and have loved every minute of it. Got the bug by doing a crappy experience day (session) at 3 sisters in an Atom. Guy was a tool and wouldn't let me get out of 3rd gear and was being pissy about the rear stepping out even though it was fitted with Toyo T1R's and it was wet, but enjoyed it nontheless.

Soon after this I'd purchased a Mazda 6 MPS for a daily/track car and attended 3 sisters a couple of times. Car was way to heavy and overpowered running 300hp so booked a general day at Oulton. First time running semi slicks and track pads then really got bitten by the bug.

Couple of months after Oulton the Mazda was sold and I'd bought the 182 FF for track and ST 155 for the daily stuff.

Clio transformed into a quite a high spec track car over the next 2 years then ended up being stripped and scrapped due to dropping a valve seat on track.

Then came the impulse buy of the rotten Celica 190, 2 sessions into it's first track day at Aintree it's sheared the camber arm from the subframe due to a badly rusted subframe. Shame as it was decent on track. Sold it immediately for spares or repair.

Next up is the current Octavia daily/track car...

Loved learning all the different cars and tracks and can't wait for next year to see what that brings.

No current track cars, but have had or shared owned with my step dad and brother:
* Triumph 2000 with a 2.5ltr BMW engine
* Porsche 944
* Clio Mk1 RSI, which was mum’s daily car and we “borrowed” it to take around Combe, she asked why the back seats were not in it and we were caught
* Fiesta Mk1 with a 2ltr Zetec
* Clio Ph1 172 which I sort of regret selling now
I’ve been told my BMW E34 will be taken off me it it ever sees a race track, plus it handles like a boat.

Current plan is to change the engine in my girlfriends Mk3 Fiesta for a 1.7 Puma engine, ideally without her knowing, to use that. Keep it looking poverty spec looking too. It’s practially a track car now as it doesn’t have power steering or electric windows.

Im sharing a 2001 1.7 Puma with a friend and have been for a couple of years. We’ve only done a couple of track days at Bedford so far but it’s great fun. It has a rear cage, stripped, ns2r tyres, ap racing coilovers. Still road legal so we drive it to and from track. I do wish it was a plain colour though!!

The other is an ex-Ford Motorsport F2 car, so mountune engine, Dynamic 3-way dampers, sequential box etc. Long way off being a runner though.

I started off in a MK1 Clio 1.8 8v rsi and did a track day at teesside and some road rallys.

Built a rally puma that had done over 100 events, road rallys, stage rallys, auto tests, track days ect when she was sold had 165k on the original engine and box and never failed to finish an event.

Now on building the wee Twingo into a stage car.
