Track day clutch and release bearing

  Cup Turbo, Flamer
Can anybody recommend a good comp clutch or track day clutch to go for? Any idea of prices?

Also any ideas as to where i can find a better than standard release bearing, found some on tweeks but no idea what to get??!?

My helix group N has just thrown it's toys out of its pram, nice one...not!

from what i can gather renault have replaced the original release bearing for a better quality one? as when i ordered a clutch fork and release bearing from them, the original bearing was removed from the packaging, and i had to order a new one (this happened twice by the way, and when the dealer rung to ask why it was being removed they said the release bearing had been superceeded)

i think they must have realised it wasnt up to the job with so many cars having the release bearing fail, might be worth buying a new one and seeing how that stands up? unless it is the newer one you have already?

Out of interest mate, how much was your clutch fork? I have a wierd problem with my clutch that happens only when the car has been driven for 20mins+ the clutch becomes very sticky and makes a grinding sound. Have been told its the fork?!?!?

well get this for a laugh, i bought the clutch fork and release bearing as a kit from renault, but then when they took the original out of the package the price stayed the same for just the fork!! then they charged me for the new bearing on top of that!!

ive written down £50 for clutch fork and bearing on my costs sheet, ive got a feeling the original clutch fork and bearing kit was around the £25 mark? but then without the bearing with it that was £25 just for the fork  (that price includes the gearbox bracket etc for the soft clutch setup)

OK so we are not talking major money like my £400 clutch replacement! How difficult is the fork and bearing to change because again i have been told its an engine out job?

well i wouldnt say its an engine out job, you just need to slide the gearbox out enough so you have room to replace the fork and bearing, however my engine was out of the car when i did mine, very easy when its sat on the floor :approve:

Do you need to remove the gearbox totally to make a clutch change (that's a really novice questions haha!!)

never done a clutch on an RS, but i hear people drop the subframe to get enough room without taking the box out completely, also saves renewing fluids if taking the engine out

clutch is about £100 plus 5-7hours labour (cups are easier to do IMO) plus the "b*****d tax" (and i don't mean vat!)
